New High Score For Wreck-It-Ralph

Wreck-it-Ralph is an adorable winner that all gamers and movie goers can be proud of. It made me wish the arcade was still a cool place to hang out. The colorful and heartwarming tale revolves around Ralph’s journey to become the hero of the day instead of the villain of the story.

Ralph (voiced John C. Reilly) ultimately jumps to a candy land style video game where all sorts of digital shenanigans occur. Along the way, he meets a little girl named Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) who is ostracized by her peers for being a “glitch” in the game.

The relationship between Ralph and Vanellope is the emotional core of the film. They are oddities who get each other and it creates a dynamic that makes you root for them all the way.

One of the funnier moments in the movie was the group counseling session filled with video game bad guys such as M. Bison, Doctor Robotnik, Bowser, and Kano. Yes, Kano. The mercenary from Mortal Kombat who rips peoples heart out of their chest and holds it up high in victory as the organ pumps out it’s last ounce of blood.

This is the same video game that sparked such outrage in 1992 that it led to congressional hearings which ultimately spawned the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) that provides age and content ratings for consumers. In some small way it shows how far we have come in the name of tolerance for this character to appear in a Disney movie.

The movie has something for everyone including high scores of fun for children and Konami Codes a plenty for the child at heart.
